Faithful to its annual summer appointment, the 8th Forthnet Beach Volley Tournament was held in Athens and Chania as usual, and Chalkidiki for the first time this year, causing a sensation everywhere.
The 8th Forthnet Beach Volley Tournament was held in Athens, Chalkidiki and Chania, with great success, a large number of participants and a true spirit of sportsmanship. As every year, Forthnet was assisted in organizing this sports event by the Hellenic Volleyball Federation (EOPE) and the international volleyball athlete, Michalis Triandafyllidis.
This year, the Forthnet Beach volley Tournament began in Chalkidiki. It was the first year in which the event visited Northern Greece, and despite the unfavourable weather conditions, its debut was marked by success! The constant light rainfall did not hinder any of the 16 teams that attended the event and fought for victory on the sandy terrain in Nea Plagia.
The games took place on June 30th and July 1st, and the top three teams were:
-Team 1: “Totem 6” – Christos Skourias & Nikos Passalis
-Team 2: “Totem 3” – Tassos Anastassiadis & Petros Anastassiadis
-Team 3: “Totem 4” - Sakis Terzis & Aggelos Aggelis
The games continued the following weekend (July 7th & 8th) at the Vari Sports Club Lifestyle Fitness (1 Varis Ave. & Kalamatas in Vari) for the Athens tournament. Twenty-eight teams participated, the athletes’ level was very high, and the final match was an exciting event for all viewers.
The finals placed the following three teams at the top of the classification:
-Team 1: “Experience” – Michalis Saridakis & Ilias Klonos
-Team 2: “GiaZin” – Zinon Zofolis & Giannis Stabelos
-Team 3: “Totem” – Sakis Terzis & Anastassios Anastassiadis
The games were followed by a party sponsored by Corona beer.
The third and last appointment of this year’s 8th Forthnet Beach Volley Tournament was in Chania, on Agion Apostolon beach on Friday 13th, Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th July. Twenty-eight teams gave their all in a particularly competitive tournament. The first three positions were taken by the following teams:
-Team 1: “Haou” – Giorgos Mamais & Giorgos Ladakis
-Team 2: “Sleepers” – Stelios Mavrigiannakis & Dimitris Bourbakis
-Team 3: “Koukouroukou” – Petros Mylonas & Manolis Koutroubakis
The awards ceremony was followed by a delicious BBQ party sponsored by Frozen Food and Mexican Corona beer, which lasted until late at night.
Forthnet wishes to contribute actively to the dissemination of the athletic spirit, through a wide range of sponsorships and other activities. Forthnet has dedicated a significant part of its initiatives to the volleyball in particular. Besides the Forthnet Beach Volley Tournament, now an institution after 8 consecutive years, the company has also been the exclusive Internet sponsor of the Iralkis volleyball team for two years in a row, and has organized the "Forthnet Award" for three years; the award allows the best athlete in the A1 men’s category to create his own personal website, using the Internet in order to advertise and promote both the sport and his own career.
